Fifth-wheel manufacturer Open Range RV Inc. has marked its first anniversary with the introduction of the Open Range Journey Edition, the Shipshewana, Ind., company’s first travel trailer. Shown here as a Journey Edition unit comes off the assembly line are, from left, Rodney Lung, district sales manger, Gene Slabach, plant manager, and Randy Graber, president. “We’d always planned on a travel trailer in the more affordable range to complement the fifth-wheel product,” Graber said, adding that the Open Range Journey Edition will make its retail debut at the Pennsylvania RV and Camping Show Sept. 8-14 at Hershey Park and the Giant Center, in Hershey, Pa. The fiberglass-and-aluminum Open Range Journey Edition is available in five 32- to 36-foot floorplans with double or triple slides and a $30,800 MSRP. Featuring a silver-look exterior with styling similar to Open Range’s fifth-wheel, amenities include heated and enclosed underbellies with pass-through storage, 15-inch wheels, utility convenience centers, 42-inch-deep slideouts, high-density carpeting, wood drawers with full extension guides and oversized residential cabinets. Open Range has grown to 90 employees and added about 80 dealerships since its August 2007 incorporation. “We’ve managed to hold our own through the times that the RV industry is dealing with,” Graber said.
