Event organizers are expecting reservations to exceed 4,000 rigs for The Rally, slated to run April 7-10 at Florida’s Daytona International Speedway.
“The seminar program is set and exhibit space was around 90% sold by mid-February,” reported Ron Epstein, director of media for the seventh running of the annual event hosted by Affinity Group Inc.
Epstein said around 530 booths will be set up for suppliers and distributors in an expansive tent area while retailers will have close to 1,000 rigs on display, with some units available for test driving.
Complementing the roster of seminars and training sessions, Rally attendees will have access to an ongoing slate of special activities, highlighted by the “RV Rescue” event.
The makeover will feature the complete refurbishing of a 1984 motorhome and will take place throughout the four-day rally. The entire process will be filmed and later aired on RVtoday.
The winning RV was chosen through an extensive selection process, which drew more than 3,000 entries. Numerous industry suppliers, including title sponsor Dometic Corp., will be involved in the RV transformation.
Other programs include:
• A Cyberlounge will debut this year with free WiFi service, booths and computer usage.
• A youth program offering a full schedule of activities will be ongoing throughout the event.
• Attendees can participate in a ballroom dancing competition with the finalists competing on stage on April 9.
• A Ladies Red Hat Social, a book discussion and an arts and crafts fair will also be featured.
Epstein said the entertainment card includes rock band America, Juice Newton, the Michael Andrews Orchestra and The Spinners.
In addition, attendees can tour the area through the “Insider’s Florida” program. Some of the tours that will be available include manatee encounters, a luncheon cruise, airboat riding, lunch with an astronaut at the Kennedy Space Center, a golf tournament and trips to Winter Park, St. Augustine and Port Canaveral.
“It’s the first time the Rally’s been in Florida, and we have an outstanding host facility in the speedway,” Epstein said. “We’re looking forward to another great event that has something for everyone.”
