The Oklahoma RV Association (ORVA) reported a strong turnout for its 2012 State Convention, held Nov. 11-13 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Resort in Tulsa.
Themed “Strategy 2013 – Mastering Challenges To Achieve Growth,” the convention provided an agenda of business programs “designed to educate and assist its dealer and associate attendees in their upcoming 2013 business endeavors,” according to a press release. The schedule addressed current affairs and changes affecting the RV industry in general and included some of the RV industry’s top speakers.
State of the union addresses were delivered by Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) President Richard Coon and Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) President Phil Ingrassia. Other subjects included Statistical Surveys Inc. impacts, state lobbying issues, addressing dealership profit centers, F/I lending issues, marketing, advertising and how to improve show selling.
“The presentation of the convention was very organized, professional and dynamic thanks to the assistance of RH Power & Associates, our executive director organization and especially to Sheril Vergara’s efforts and dedication,” stated Steve Bell, vice president of ORVA. “The speakers lineup was one of the best I’ve ever seen and addressed issues directly impacting our dealerships today.”
Highlights included a cocktail reception on Monday that offered the culmination of a special donor silent auction and 50/50 money match campaign to raise funds for the dealer association, along with a President’s Banquet gala featuring juggling ensemble “Playing By Air. In addition, the ensemble also performed earlier in the day for the young patients at the Children’s Hospital At Saint Francis in Tulsa. “Seeing smiles on the children’s’ faces on Monday morning was a real blessing and the Oklahoma RV Association was honored to sponsor this bonus entertainment to these special kids”, stated Vergara of RH Power & Associates and executive director for the Association.
“This year’s convention was a huge success thanks to our generous sponsors and donors as well as the successful silent auction and 50/50 raffle all of which combined to raise funds to ultimately offset the convention costs,” said Sobkowiak.
