Despite media reports that socialite playgirl Paris Hilton would be traveling around the country with gal pal Nichole Richie in an RV for the next version of Fox TV’s The Simple Life, it apparently is not true.
“Actually, they are not going to use an RV,” Fox publicist Tracy Raftery told RVBUSINESS.COM. “We are not sure how they are going to travel yet, but it won’t be in an RV.”
Despite Raftery’s comments, Entertainment Weekly reported today (Feb. 11) that “producers are putting them (Hilton and Richie) in a Winnebago and sending them across the country, where they will lodge with various small-town families.”
Hilton, at the Golden Globe Awards two weeks ago, told USA Today the same thing. “They tell me we’re going to travel around the country in a Winnebago with some new family,” Hilton had said.
A spokesman for Winnebago Industries Inc., Forest City, Iowa, previously said Winnebago – often used as a generic term for an RV – had no arrangement with producers of the show to provide an RV.
The Simple Life, an eight-episode “reality” series that was a rating success for Fox in December, featured Hilton, the granddaughter of hotel magnate Conrad Hilton, and Richie, the progeny of singer Lionel Richie, living with a seven-member Arkansas farm family for two weeks.
Prior to the television series, Hilton and Richie were most noted for their dalliances on the East and West Coast party circuits, and Hilton particularly for an explicit sex video released on the Internet by a former boyfriend.
