The latest shipment totals for recreational park trailers showed the sector was continuing to post steady growth this year.
According to the Recreational Park Trailer Association (RPTIA), manufacturers shipped 764 units in September compared to 565 in 2003.
For the year, 7,100 units have been delivered from manufacturers to dealers, matching the total for all of 2003 and representing a 26% increase compared to the same nine-month period last year.
The RPTIA reported the numbers indicated park-model builders were on pace to match the record 8,400 homes shipped in 2000.
“This year is the strongest we’ve ever seen in the park-trailer industry, and we expect this growth to continue,” said Olin Wenrick, association president and president of Elkhart, Ind.-based Trophy Homes Inc.
The overall health and growth of the industry was one of the key topics during RPTIA’s annual fall meeting, held Oct. 29 in Middlebury, Ind.
