The Omni RV Travel Club recently was formed by Orren Hall of Punta Gorda, Fla., to provide services to RV enthusiasts who often park their rigs overnight in shopping-mall and discount-store parking lots.
Hall, president of the organization, said it was formed “to give the growing army of RV travelers the clout of a national membership organization.”
Omni is adding an average of 1,000 new members per month and it has “signed up thousands of overnight parking locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, including outlet malls, plazas and more than 2,400 popular discount stores,” Hall reports.
Omni members pay a $34.95 annual fee to get a directory that includes directions to locations that welcome overnight RV stays. In addition, Omni members get savings from affiliates, including: AFLAC Insurance; Nextel wireless; ACN local and long-distance telephone service; Care Entree health-care and RV Alliance America.
Discounts on road service, security alarms and other products and services also are available to Omni members.
“Stores and malls already have security personnel, so it makes sense for RV owners to park overnight there,” Hall said. “In addition to safety, travelers get the convenience of being near stores for supplies they need, and the stores get more customers, so it’s a win-win situation for everyone.
“RV owners keep telling me they had to go out of their way to find RV parks, when they were often just trying to stop for a night somewhere along the way,” Hall said. “I wanted to make it easier for people to find places for short-term stays.”
