Carl Pfalzgraf, long-time treasurer of the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), has been named 1st vice chairman, effective June 1, and is in line to become the association’s next chairman, probably in 2007.
The RVIA board of directors meeting Tuesday (March 1) at Copperwynd Resort, Fountain Hills, Ariz., appointed Pfalzgraf, vice president of sales and marketing for RV supplier Atwood Mobile Products, Elkhart, Ind., to succeed Richard A. Coon of Cummins Power Generation. Coon was designated to succeed RVIA President David J. Humphreys, who will retire next January.
Although RVIA’s chairman is elected to a one-year term, traditionally the individual is re-elected to a second term. Current Chairman Bruce Hertzke, chairman, president and CEO of Winnebago Industries Inc., Forest City, Iowa, is serving in his first year.
Pfalzgraf’s position as treasurer was filled by Gregg Fore, president of supplier Dicor Corp., Elkhart.
In other business, the board:
* Increased exhibitor rates at the National RV Trade Show in Louisville by 3% starting this year.
* Voted to locate park trailer exhibits during the show at the Kentucky Fairground and Expo Center’s Broadbent Arena with a per-exhibitor limit of 2,000 square feet or less when space has to be allocated.
* Decided to contribute $80,000 to support the Trailer Safety Industry Coalition’s wheel testing program.
* Approved a guarantee of $250,000 for the Distance Learning Network so that satellite time can be reserved for next year’s service technicians training program. Approval also was given to hire a new employee to be the director of the RV service training education program.
