Factory to auto dealer shipments of converted pickups increased 15.4% during October although deliveries of converted pickups still were down 3.8% when the first 10 months of this year are compared with the same portion of 2002, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
There were 1,500 converted pickups shipped during October, versus 1,300 units delivered during October 2002. During the first 10 months of this year, there were 12,800 converted pickups shipped, compared with 13,300 units delivered during the same portion of last year.
Meanwhile, van conversion and converted SUV shipments both declined in October.
Van conversion deliveries fell 37.5% in October to 2,500 units, compared with 4,000 units shipped a year earlier. After the first 10 months of this year, van conversion shipments were down 17% to 33,700 units, versus 40,600 units delivered during the same portion of 2002.
Converted SUV shipments plunged 25% in October to 300 units, compared with 400 units shipped a year earlier. After the first 10 months of this year, shipments of converted SUVs were down 12.8% to 3,400 units, compared with 3,900 units delivered during the same portion of 2002.
