The wholesale demand for converted pickup trucks was higher during May while the van conversion market continued on its downward trend, according to data gathered by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).

Meanwhile, the small market for converted sport utility vehicles (SUVs) got smaller in May, the RVIA reported.

Van conversion shipments declined 16% in May to 7,900 units and were down 19.4% during the first five months of this year to 36,600 units.

Pickup truck conversions, on the other hand, increased 10.3% in May to 3,200 units. During the first five months of this year, pickup conversions were up 10% to 16,500 units.

SUV conversion shipments declined 50% in May to 600 units. During the first five months of this year, converted SUV shipments were down 42.4% to 3,400 units, the RVIA reported.
