Shipments of converted pickups and sport utility vehicles (SUVs) were sharply higher in February although van-conversion deliveries were down, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
Van conversion shipments declined 5.6% in February to 3,400 units and, after the first two months of this year, van-conversion deliveries from factories to car dealerships were down 3% to 6,500 units.
However, shipments of converted pickups increased 66.7% in February to 1,500 units, the RV IA reports. After the first two months of this year, shipments of converted pickups were up 88.2% to 3,200 units.
Meanwhile, shipments of converted SUVs increased 25% in February to 500 units and converted SUV deliveries were up 120% after the first wo months of this year to 1,100 units.
