Pilgrim International is planning construction of a nearly 21,000-square-foot production facility at its complex in Middlebury, Ind., replacing a smaller building that was lost in a September fire.
According to a report in the South Bend Tribune, the fire stemmed from an electrical malfunction that leveled a 5,500-square-foot facility used for chassis prep.
Pilgrim shifted operations to a nearby building while they began planning for construction of the larger plant.
The new facility will give Pilgrim room to grow, according to Pilgrim Chairman Dave Hoefer.
He also said the company planned to hire an unspecified number of additional workers in the next four months.
