Pleasureland RV logoPleasureLand RV Center Inc. announced today (Dec. 8) the acquisition of Hart Trailer Sales of Long Prairie, Minn.

“Hart Trailer Sales, founded in 1957, has always had a great reputation for taking care of their customers,” said Dan Pearson, president of St. Cloud, Minn.-based PleasureLand RV, in a news release. “They are a good fit to our family of dealerships.”

The store will operate as PleasureLand RV Budget Lot of Long Prairie, offering a complete selection of new and pre-owned RVs along with ice/fish houses. It will also carry parts and accessories along with a complete repair facility.

Long Prairie represents the second “budget lot” for PleasureLand. The multilocation dealer, which expands to six stores with the acquisition, opened a St. Cloud budget location earlier this year close to its flagship dealership.

Pearson told RVBUSINESS.com that the concept, which offers trailers under $10,000 and motorized RVs under $15,000, has proven to be a strong draw, particularly for RVers entering the marketplace.

“It’s been interesting,” Pearson said. “We had been wholesaling around 100 to 150 units per year – pretty much giving them away at auctions. With the budget lot, we were able to put some money into refurbishing units and turn a profit.

“For the consumer, the concept addresses those people looking to enter the market who were often times intimidated by the price. We essentially have created a whole new business for PleasureLand. Since we opened the store in St. Cloud, we have seen maybe a 15% crossover in customers. People are choosing to either go to the budget lot or come to the big store.”

PleasureLand RV Center, founded in 1971, was recently recognized as an RVBusiness Top 50 Dealer at the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association’s (RVDA) International Convention is Las Vegas.  It is one of only 13 dealerships in the U.S. and Canada to receive this award each year since it’s inception.
