Potomac RV LLC, Elkhart, Ind., in March will debut the Liberty, a lighter weight, more affordable, mid-profile towable line that initially will consist of two travel trailer and four fifth-wheel floorplans with single or double slideouts. Tentatively set to be built in a new 35,000-square-foot Elkhart plant, Liberty features all-aluminum superstructures with high-gloss hung fiberglass sidewalls, aerodynamic molded fiberglass caps, heated and enclosed underbellies and extra large storage access doors. Interior features include pear-wood accents, raised panel cabinet doors, brushed nickel kitchen hardware with stainless steel appliances and jackknife sofas. Retail prices range from $21,000 to $35,000. “We are aiming at owners of half-ton and light three-quarter ton trucks,” said President James E. Johnson. “The price point is the fastest growing segment of the industry as far as towables are concerned.” In January, Potomac announced plans to add 75 to 100 new jobs through June to accommodate the launch of the Liberty and an new unnamed fifth-wheel line that will debut in the spring.
