New powerboat registrations were up 3.8% through February on a rolling 12-month, year-over-year basis, according to the latest report from the National Marine Manufacturers Assocation (NMMA).
Tow boats, personal watercraft and pontoons boats were growth leaders with their respective sales up 9.9%, 8.7% and 4.1% through February. These categories accounted for about 50% of new powerboat unit sales. Sales of larger boats 27 feet and greater were up 5.9%.
The NMMA reported that sales fell 4.8% for the three months through February compared to the same period a year ago. But the trade association noted those are low-volume sales months that represent just 11% of annual sales on average.
