           The RV Technician Distance Learning Program, which is run by Northampton Community College and the Pennsylvania RV and Camping Association (PRVCA), has announced its summer 2015 courses that include RV Air Conditioning, Preventive Maintenance, Water Heater Systems and Electrical Systems.

According to a press release, the program allows students to gain an in-depth understanding of recreation vehicle maintenance with intensive, competency-based instruction. Students simply log on to access the lecture notes, hands-on assignments, quizzes and chat with the instructor and other students. The program gives students the flexibility to complete the course from the comfort of their home or dealership without having the expense of traveling to a training facility.

The courses are approved by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) and qualify for recertification hours. Students receive a certificate of completion successful completion of the course. The program is designed for RV maintenance and sales personnel, service managers, factory field technicians, service representatives, inspectors and those seeking a new, hands-on career in a growing industry.

Those who complete the entire program will earn a Specialized Diploma from Northampton Community College. Students not wishing to obtain the Specialized Diploma may also enroll in individual courses as desired. Those who earn the Specialized Diploma will be prepared to test for the RV Service Technician or a Master Certified RV Service Technician with RVIA.

Details on courses include:

RVTNC100.3 – RV Air Conditioning Systems Service: An introduction to basic refrigeration theory and operations. Provides skills for installation, troubleshooting, repair and replacement of air-conditioning systems and components.

End Date:  June 14

Qualifies for 48 recertification hours

RVTNC109.2 – RV Preventive Maintenance: Provides techniques and procedures to ensure an RV’s safe and dependable operation. Visual inspection, periodic check and tests, equipment adjustments, fluid replacements, lubrication, filter changes, and belt replacements are covered.

End Date:  July 19

Qualifies for 28 recertification hours

RVTNC108.2 – Water Heater System Service: Theory and operation of RV water heaters techniques and procedures to troubleshoot repair and/or replace units or components are applied.  Prerequisites: Electrical Concepts, LP Gas Systems Service, RV Water Systems Service.

End Date:  August 9

Qualifies for 28 recertification hours

RVTNC103.3 – RV Electrical Systems Service: Provides the skills to troubleshoot, repair or replace A/C and D/C circuits, components  and auxiliary systems in RVs. Prerequisite:  RV Electrical Concepts.

Start Date:  July 27

End Date:  September 20
