Holiday RV Superstores Inc., the dealership chain doing business as Recreation USA, plans to enter the used RV and boat auction business later this spring.
The company announced today (April 19) its plan to acquire the RV and marine division of the Sanford Auto Dealers Exchange of Sanford, Fla. The acquisition should be finalized later this spring, according to Recreation USA.
The Sanford Auto Dealers Exchange, owned by Ron Brody, will retain the automotive auction.
Recreation USA plans to conduct auctions of used RVs, personal watercraft and motorcycles in Sanford, Fla., an Orlando suburb, on the third Saturday of each month. The public and licensed dealers will be allowed to participate in the auctions at what would be called the Recreation USA RV & Marine Dealer Exchange & Outlet.
The operation in Sanford “will give us a dedicated retail and wholesale facility to serve as a clearinghouse for used RVs, which will increase inventory turns at our 14 dealerships and eliminate potential old-age inventory,” said Marcus Lemonis, the Recreation USA president. “We feel we can appeal to a broader range of consumers by offering a concentration of used products at a single location.”
Recreation USA will modify its Internet Web site to allow potential buyers “to preview vehicles prior to each auction,” Lemonis said.
The company plans “to continue our consolidation of the industry this year by targeting arrangements such as this,” Lemonis added.
