The record attendance at the Jayco Inc. dealer meeting in South Bend, Ind., this week is a tribute to the company’s new leadership, according to Sid Johnson, director of marketing.
Representatives of around 160 dealerships and 400 dealership personnel attended the gathering, and both totals are records, Johnson said.
Jayco, based in nearby Middlebury, Ind., has nearly 300 authorized dealers, according to the company’s website.
The new leadership to which Johnson referred includes Derald Bontrager, who became president and COO early this year. His brother, Wilbur, Jayco’s chairman for nine years, also added the title of CEO early this year.
After conducting its previous three annual international dealer meetings in Dallas, Toronto and Atlanta, the company decided to return to its Northern Indiana roots for this year’s gathering in honor of its 35th anniversary in business.
Jayco was founded in 1968 by the late Lloyd Bontrager, father of Derald and Wilbur.
This year’s gathering was the 22nd consecutive dealer meeting conducted by Jayco.
Next year, Jayco’s dealer meeting will take place during mid-July in Kissimmee, Fla., a suburb of Orlando, Johnson said.
