Last year’s Caravan Salon drew record attendance

Billed as the world’s largest RV show and coming off record crowds last year, Caravan Salon Düsseldorf kicks off a nine-day run for the general public Saturday (Aug. 29) at the Dusseldorf (Germany) Fairgrounds (Messe Düsseldorf).

Nearly 600 exhibitors will display some 130 brands of motorized and towable RVs throughout 2 million square feet of display space.

The public portion of the show will be proceeded Friday by a one-day trade-only event.

Manufacturers and suppliers from Germany, the U.S., The Netherlands, Great Britain, Austria, Spain, Italy Ukraine, Slovinia, France, Switzerland, China and others will display RV units, accessories and services during the show

Last year’s show drew an estimated 192,000 visitors to the 11 halls and outdoor space at the mammoth fairgrounds in suburban Düsseldorf .

Due to the increased popularity of Class B and C motorhomes, those units will be show in a hall separate from the rest of the ”caravans” and motorcoaches on display in Düsseldorf.

”Visitors can look forward to a complete market overview, numerous world premiers and a host of innovations,” Caravan Salon Director Stefan Koschke, said in a press release. ”Demand from (exhibitor) companies was so great that the halls were fully booked early on.”

Many visitors are expected to camp out in RVs at 3,500 sites adjacent to the fairgrounds.

As in the past, TourNatur — Germany’s only outdoor trade show focusing on hiking — will be held the second weekend of the show in conjunction with Caravan Salon featuring equipment and services from 275 exhibitors.
