Cequent Performance Products Reese brand was among the host of supplier vendors showing and demonstrating aftermarket products, parts and accessories as part of NTP Distribution Inc.’s 2012 Dealer Conference. The well-attended show, running Monday (Feb. 20) through Friday at the San Diego Convention Center, marks NTP’s 50th year of operation while also representing its first dealer gathering since being acquired by Keystone Automotive Operations Inc. last October. As pictured, Reese personnel recognized NTP’s longevity by wearing retro costumes, sporting Beatles outfits as well as sandals, mini-skirts and wild print shirts reminiscent of the era’s hippie culture. In its prominent display area, Reese showed several introductions in its line of towing products, including the new R series featuring an improved locking jaw mechanism, cast head and a totally new style, according to Vice President of Sales John Walsh. “We offer a complete fifth-wheel system for consumers,” Welsh said. “Along with the R series, Reese carries Bargman wiring and Tekonsha braking controls.” He added, “The other big thing this year besides the R series is our Reese 5th Airborne Sidewinder, which improves shock absorption as well as handling in 90-plus degree turns.” In addition to the aisles of product on the show floor, the convention’s agenda included dealer awards along with several workshops conducted by prominent suppliers including Demco, Atwood, Samlex, ASA, TRC, B&W, Blue Ox, Winegar and Cequent, among others. The highlight of the event was an excursion to the USS Midway this evening. Attendees will receive a guided tour of the legendary decommissioned carrier, which is moored at San Diego’s Navy Pier.
