Richard E. Riegel III, 36, was named today (May 6) president and CEO of the Airstream Inc. subsidiary of Thor Industries Inc.
Meanwhile, Larry Huttle, Airstream’s president the past 14 years, today was named chairman of Airstream.
Under Huttle’s leadership, “Airstream has had an uninterrupted record of profitability and has maintained its position as the world’s finest recreational vehicle,” according to the statement issued by Thor.
Riegel, the son-in-law of Thor Chairman and CEO Wade F.B. Thompson, was Thor’s vice president of corporate development for the past four years. He helped lead the acquisition of Keystone RV last November which propelled Thor into the retail market share leadership position in the travel trailer and fifth-wheel categories.
He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vt., and from 1992-96, Riegel was vice president of advertising firm Lowe & Partners/SMS. He spent 1997 and 1998 earning an MBA degree from Columbia University in New York.
