The Recreational Park Trailer Industry Association (RPTIA) is raising public awareness about park models with a public relations effort initially focused on New England and the East Coast along with some small markets in the Midwest.
New England and the East Coast were selected because business at campgrounds featuring park models has been exceptionally strong this year, with sales over last year hitting new records, according to the Newnan, Ga.-based RPTIA.
The PR campaign also resulted in upbeat stories from newspapers in South Bend, Elkhart, Goshen and Nappanee, Ind., media markets that are friendly because they are home to many park model production plants and hundreds of their workers.
During the fall, the focus of the PR campaign will turn to retail RV shows where park models are displayed and during the winter, business articles will appear about RV parks in the Sun Belt preparing for their busy season.
A review of the RPTIA PR program and its achievements is scheduled for Oct. 24 in Elkhart.
