An RV parts manufacturer announced plans Thursday (Aug. 20) to create 120 new jobs by 2018 and invest $13.5 million to construct a new 120,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in Bristol, Ind.
Talon Products LLC, an exterior components manufacturer for the recreational vehicle industry, intends to establish its operations here, setting up shop in the Commerce Drive Industrial Park in Bristol, according to a press release from the company.
“As lifelong Hoosiers, we at Talon Products chose to establish our new venture in Indiana not only because of its business-friendly environment, but because we felt that the best way to give back to our state was to continue hiring more and more Hoosier workers,” said David Smith, co-founder of Talon Products.
Talon Products is the newest business venture from the owners and operators of Elkhart-based Alpha Systems. Alpha Systems was formed in 1984 to manufacture and distribute construction products and accessories for the RV, marine and manufactured housing industries.
Construction on Talon’s new facility is expected to be complete by summer 2016, when the company will begin hiring line workers, supervisors, technicians and quality control professionals.
“Nearly 300,000 Hoosiers work in Indiana’s RV industry, building products that are traveling on roads around the world,” said Indiana Gov. Mike Pence. “Because companies like Talon Products are committed to growing their businesses in Indiana’s low-tax, low-regulation environment, we continue to see RV industry growth that’s helping our state stand out as a leader in job creation.”
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company up to $860,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $40,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives.
The town of Bristol approved additional incentives at the request of the Elkhart County Economic Development Corp.
“We are pleased that entrepreneurs continue to bring their dreams, ingenuity and resources to Elkhart County. Talon Products’ success is Elkhart County’s success, and we look forward to supporting their growth for years to come,” said Elkhart County Commissioner Mike Yoder.
