Spec-Temp, a subsidiary of DURA Automotive Products Inc. which also owns Atwood Mobile Products of Elkhart, Ind., has invested around $1.2 million in a new product line that will add 60 new jobs, according to Indiana’s Fort Wayne Journal Gazette.
Spec-Temp of Antwerp, Ohio fabricates and tempers glass for industrial, commercial and consumer applications primarily for the transportation industry, including the recreational vehicle, marine, and automotive sectors.
The company had been owned since 1987 by Creation Group, a window manufacturing firm acquired last year by DURA and was subsequently combined with Atwood. Both companies are suppliers to the RV industry.
The new glass insulation product line being installed at the Spec-Temp plant is needed because of increased demand for the product, according to spokeswoman Rose Bowers.
Spec-Temp is the largest employer in Antwerp, a town with a population of 1,740 near Fort Wayne. Spec-Temp employs around 315 workers and operates in a 160,000-square-foot factory at a 12-acre complex.
