The latest vintage vehicle in the RV/MH Hall of Fame Museum collection is a 1974 GMC motorhome.
According to a press release, the coach is a gift from William Renz of Valles Mines, Mo., the original and only owner of the motorhome who purchased it in 1974 upon his retirement from a lengthy career as an engineer for General Motors Corp.
Hall officials said Renz has kept the coach in nearly pristine condition, garaging the vehicle when not in use.
As very early members of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) Renz and his wife traveled extensively throughout the United States in the coach, including Alaska and Canada.
Upon hearing of the plans for the enlarged museum at the RV/MH Hall of Fame, and recognizing that at 90 years of age he could no longer travel in the motorhome, he offered to donate the unit for display.
Work is currently underway for the new 55,000-square-foot facility along the Indiana Toll Road in Elkhart, Ind., that will house the hall, with relocation planned from downtown Elkhart by the end of the year.
