Interior furnishings supplier Decorator Industries Inc. credits sales to RV industry customers with helping its profitability during the second quarter.
The American Stock Exchange-listed company reports its net income declined 2% during the three months ended June 28 to $497,928 and its net earnings during the first half of this year were down 1%, when compared with the first half of 2002, to $805,803.
The Pembroke Pines, Fla.-based company’s second quarter sales revenue increased 4% to $10.8 million and its sales during the first half of this year were up almost 7% to $20.5 million.
Decorator’s earnings were essentially flat despite a 26% decline in manufactured home shipments during the first half of this year. Decorator’s sales to the manufactured home industry declined by 18% but its RV industry sales increased about 21%, according to William Basset, chairman.
“Our commitment to the RV market has been rewarded with increased sales, market share growth and profitability,” Bassett said.
Decorator supplies draperies, curtains, shades, blinds, valance boards, bedspreads, comforters, pillows, cushions and trailer tents.
In addition to the RV and manufactured home industries, Decorator also supplies the hospitality industry.
