Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) President Dave Humphreys and a representative of rental firm Cruise America were among those interviewed during a feature about the RV lifestyle which appeared on national broadcast TV on the CBS Early Show on Monday (July 22).
Humphreys explained the difference between the various product categories and provided viewers with some retail price ranges. He also added that RV manufacturers and dealers are “selling them just about as fast as we can make them right now.”
Cruise America representative Judy Erck also told CBS Correspondent Sandra Hughes that the number of people renting a motorhome for the first-time is up sharply this year. Cruise America’s total rental volume has increased 30% since Sept. 11, she added.
Hughes also interviewed a family taking their first RV vacation in a rental unit. The family had planned an overseas trip, but switched to domestic RV travel after the Sept. 11 attacks.
“The camaraderie of the campground” is another attractive aspect of the RV lifestyle, Hughes added.
