Longtime recreational vehicle supplier Gustafson Lighting Co. has been sold to Mesirow Financial of Chicago, according to a report in the Elkhart Truth.
Charlie Gustafson, president of the Elkhart, Ind., company, announced the Jan. 24 sale on Thursday (Feb. 10). The purchase price was not disclosed.
Gustafson Lighting manufactures 12-volt decorative lighting fixtures, primarily for the RV market, and employs 135 workers in a 90,000-square-foot facility in Elkhart. The firm reported record sales of more than $20 million in 2004.
The Truth reported Jeff Nixon will assume CEO responsibilities for the supplier and Kirk Sobecki will be the new chief financial officer.
Charlie Gustafson, 59, will continue as a consultant to the company, specializing in sales. No other management changes are expected.
Gustafson Lighting Co. was founded in 1962 by Robert B. Gustafson at his residence in Sturgis, Mich. Charlie Gustafson joined his father and formed R.B. Gustafson Co. in 1970. The company eventually moved to Elkhart as it expanded its product line to the growing RV industry, which now accounts for an estimated 90% of its revenues.
