This year’s slate of candidates for induction into the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Ind., includes Bill Estes, vice president/publisher of TL Enterprises Inc., Ventura, Calif., publisher of RV-related magazines and books.
Four others connected to the RV Industry, along with seven people in the manufactured housing sector, comprise the 2002 candidates for induction.
This year’s induction ceremony will be held Aug. 6 at the Matterhorn Restaurant in Elkhart. Including this year’s inductees, the total number of people named to the RV/MH Hall of Fame will be 230.
Estes joined TL in 1968 after working as a news reporter for the Los Angeles Times. He has served in a variety of key roles for TL Enterprises, including director of technical services for all TL publications and most recently as publisher of Trailer Life and MotorHome magazines.
TL, which is a business unit of Affinity Group Inc., also publishes RV Business and RVBUSINESS.COM.
Joining Estes on the RV side is Melvin R. Auch of Chief Industries in Aurora, Neb. Auch is being recognized for his work with various industry associations and a series of production and organizational innovations in both the RV and manufactured housing industries.
Fellow Nebraska resident, Clifton Nelsen, of A.C. Nelsen Camper World, an Omaha RV retailer and supplier, is a long-time association leader, and the founder of the first wholesale/retail supply firm in the industry.
James B. Summers, retired executive with the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA), is being recognized for his efforts to help build RVDA into a recognizable lobbying power. Also being honored is Kelly Rose of Starcraft Corp., Goshen, Ind. Rose, a lead promoter of the “Go RVing” national promotion campaign and an innovator in the conversion vehicle industry.
