A 120-space RV park, an indoor water park and a lakeside boardwalk are among the new facilities planned for Lake Sammamish State Park east of Seattle, according to the Seattle Times.
The Washington state park planners hope to build the water park in three to five years and the RV park in six to 10 years.
State parks officials described the water park, which would be housed in a 44,500-square-foot building, as a “water-based fun house,” according to the newspaper.
The RV park also would be located west of a 30-acre athletic complex, also scheduled for development in six to 10 years. The athletic complex would include two baseball fields, eight soccer fields, an indoor soccer arena and picnic area.
Also planned for the 520-acre park is an elevated boardwalk near the beach with a food court and other concessions.
Ideas for the proposed facilities were developed during two public meetings earlier this fall. The meetings were called to come up with ideas to stop the decline in visits to the park despite the dramatic population growth in the Seattle area in recent years.
State park department planners will submit their development plans for the park to the state parks commission on Dec. 4, according to the Times.
