A new RV resort is being built in Clarendon County, S.C., according to the Manning (S.C.) Times.
The developer is Jim Thigpen and his company, TLC (Thigpen, Lovell and Clark) is building a new membership resort just off I-95 at exit 102, according ot the newspaper.
The reception and sales office are under construction now and Thigpen hopes the building will be done by mid-July and phase I of the resort will completed by October.
The resort will have different types of camping. There will be an area reserved for tents, one for pop-up campers, and another for large RVs. There also be 40 cabins, so members can stay in the cabins and have a view of the lake out their back door.
“We will have a large swimming pool plus a pool for children,” Thigpen said. “We will also have a lazy river so everyone can enjoy floating around on an inner-tube. There will also be a boat ramp and a marina so members can tie up their boats. We also plan to have pontoons and other boats for rent.”
Thigpen’s property will be affiliated with Coast to Coast Resorts, the membership organization that is a unit of Affinity Group Inc., which is the parent of TL Enterprises, publisher of RV Business and RVBUSINESS.COM.
Thigpen added that when people buy a membership to his resort, it’s a lifetime membership with only an annual maintenance fee. That membership allows them to save a lot of money on family vacations.
“Whenever someone buys a membership at our deluxe resort campground, they can stay at the other Coast to Coast Resorts campgrounds and resorts for only $6 a day,” Thigpen said.
He said Coast to Coast Resorts memberships will be great for Clarendon County residents because they can stay at some of the most beautiful Five Star resorts across the country and not pay high rates.
Memberships will go on sale at a discount in July because the resort will not be finished at that time, Thigpen said.
“We haven’t established the membership fee yet,” he said. “Memberships will be pre-sold starting around July 15. We hope to have the first phase of construction complete by fall and the resort open then. Right now we have 40 acres and we are working on trying to acquire some more property. When the first phase is complete there will be over 300 campsites and the cabins.”
A member of Thigpen’s staff is promoting the resort at trade shows and going to RV dealers and offering a week’s stay to their customers.
