From more than 3,000 entries, 11 have been chosen as finalists for an RV Rescue makeover to be performed live at The Rally in Daytona Beach, Fla., April 7-10, and later broadcast on RVtoday.
The final 11 were selected after a review of videotapes and additional information submitted by more than 200 semi-finalists selected in December.
“The judging was very close on a few of them,” said Melody Rose, RV Rescue designer. “We intended to have 10 finalists, but our judges added one to be sure in their minds that this was the best pool of finalists.”
The final judging will be conducted by a panel comprised of RV Rescue title sponsor Dometic Corp., RVtoday Producer Bob Livingston, a contributing engineer from Lippert Components Inc. and Rose. The winner will be announced by late February.
Among the finalists are a large family of adopted children, two couples looking to create a better environment for developmentally challenged children, an RV workamper recovering from a head injury and a cancer survivor looking to spend more time with grandchildren.
RV Rescue will completely refurbish and redecorate an RV at The Rally and the entire event will be broadcast in two special episodes of the RVtoday show in June on the Outdoor Life cable network.
Camping World is the RV Rescue retail sponsor. Other RV Rescue sponsors include: Roadmaster tow bars; Safe-T-Plus steering controls; Hydro Life water filters; Jensen mobile entertainment systems; Westland Sales’ Vesta countertop dishwasher and Splendide RV washer/dryer; Summit Products body armor; Xantrex inverter/charging systems; LaSalle Bristol’s Celano portable stainless steel grill; Haulmark trailers; and RV Mobile Service, Inc. Lippert Components will be contributing its on-site metal fabricating and engineering expertise to the event.
