A 55-foot white walkway leads to three flag poles standing majestically in front of Silver Springs RV Resort in Silver Springs, Fla., the Ocala Star-Banner reported.
Three years of fundraising allowed a local group to finalize its new Veterans Park in front of this winter home of about 450 retirees.
Lining the walkway are 10 American flags. Sitting in front of a block wall behind the flag poles — holding American, Canadian and POW/MIA flags — are 10 poinsettias.
At 11 a.m. today (Nov. 11), after a 10 a.m. veterans parade around the RV park concludes, residents will gather for the first Veterans Day ceremony ever held at the resort, which is owned by Wilder Corp.
“It’s great that our neighbors are going to honor all of our servicemen,” said Dottie Brabham, 80, whose husband, James, served 23 years in the U.S. Air Force during both the Korean and Vietnam wars.
