Decorator Industries Inc., a supplier of interior furnishings to RV and manufactured home builders, reports its fourth-quarter net income increased 49% largely because of a 24% increase in sales to RV industry customers in 2003.
Decorator earned $336,800 during the three months ended Jan. 3, compared with $226,600 earned during the same period a year earlier.
The American Stock Exchange-listed company’s fourth-quarter total sales increased 9% to $10.3 million, from $9.4 million a year earlier.
For all of 2003, Decorator earned $1.56 million, a 13% increase over the $1.38 million it earned in 2002.
The Pembroke Pines, Fla., company’s 2003 sales increased 8% to $41.8 million, compared with $38.6 million in 2002.
Decorator is taking steps to continue growing as an RV industry supplier, according to William Bassett, chairman. The company has expanded its Specialty Window Coverings Inc. plant in Elkhart, Ind., by over 50%. The expanded portion of that facility went into operation last week. It primarily supplies RV manufacturers with shades.
Additionally, Decorator completed the purchase of Fleetwood Enterprises Inc.’s drapery business in Douglas, Ga., in January. Decorator is transferring orders to the Douglas plant and the company plans to open a new factory in the Western U.S. later this year to supply Fleetwood and other RV and manufactured home builders along the West Coast.
