Strong RV and North American auto industry sales allowed Dura Automotive Systems Inc., parent of RV industry supplier firm Atwood Mobile Products, to report second quarter sales revenue that slightly exceeded its second quarter 2001 sales, despite some divestitures occurring within the past 12 months.
Dura, primarily an auto industry supplier, had second quarter sales of $667.3 million, compared with $666.3 million during the April-through-June portion of last year.
However, Dura reported a second quarter net loss of $8 million primarily because it incurred $21.1 million worth of primarily non-cash, one-time-only divestiture-related expenses during the quarter.
Dura’s net income during the second quarter of 2001 amounted to $12.9 million.
The company’s sales during the first half of this year slipped 3% lower to $1.28 billion and its net earnings were down 85% to $3.2 million.
