Innovative products and an ongoing commitment to quality and service stood out as the leading factors behind Winnebago Industries Inc. again topping the list of “America’s Most Admired RV Manufacturers” in the latest RVBUSINESS.com Industry Poll. The Forest City, Iowa, motorhome builder garnered nearly 19% of the votes in the most recent survey.
Right behind Winnebago (in order) were Newmar Corp., Nappanee, Ind.; Tiffin Motor Homes Inc., Red Bay, Ala.; Monaco Coach Corp., Coburg, Ore.; and Middlebury, Ind.-based Jayco Inc.
For Winnebago, a company that set the pace nationally among manufacturers on warranty parts and service matters, it was a repeat performance. “They’ve been in the business a long time, with reasonable products and a level of after-sale service and support directly to customers, not just dealers, that is hard to find,” noted a retailer. “There are others that do as well, but haven’t been doing it as long.”
Longevity weighed in heavily with poll participants, as all of the top OEMs in the survey displayed long-standing, and successful, track records.
Among the typical comments from poll participants regarding the Top 5:
• Winnebago: “Consistent leader in their segment, not boastful, well known and respected outside of the industry,” offered a member of the manufacturing sector.
• Newmar: “I believe this company has portrayed itself as a caring, hand-crafted business that takes pride in the quality units it sells,” a sales and marketing executive noted.
• Tiffin: “This company quietly and consistently produces coaches of quality and backs them up with the followup to ensure that they reach the buyers’ expectations,” said a Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) representative.
• Monaco: “Monaco manufactures a complete line from inexpensive to top of the line.” said a supplier. “They support their customers very effectively and quality control is very good. Their products reflect a large R&D budget.”
• Jayco: “Strong values, used in making the right decision, with a commitment to staff, vendors and customers,” offered a supplier. “This commitment drives the decisions made to ensure quality of product and service.”
