Everything’s in place for the rollout of the 2019 RVBusiness Top 50 Dealer Awards, a unique RV-specific program introduced 12 years ago in an effort to publicly recognize quality-minded U.S. and Canadian dealers who, because of their demonstrated professionalism, continue to raise the bar for the rest of the industry.
In fact, little has changed with regard to the Top 50’s basic premise and motivation since the first go-round in 2008, according to those involved since the inception of this novel program inspired by the prerecessionary goals of the all-industry Consumer Care Commission and the Go RVing Coalition’s Committee on Excellence.
“Throughout the RV industry’s evolution, the one constant is the need to take care of people – the RVers themselves,” reports Top 50 administrator BJ Thompson of BJ Thompson Associates. “Treating people well and doing the right thing will always be what the best dealerships are built around. That’s why professionalism and excellent customer care are at the core of what our applicants are judged by and what our winners are honored for.”
“With a heart-felt mission that has little to do with a dealership’s overall sales volume and everything to do with sound business practices, marketing savvy, aggressive employee training, cutting edge service, community involvement and a commitment to consumer care, the RVBusiness Top 50 Dealer Awards program has gained cachet ever since its inception,” added RVB Publisher Sherm Goldenberg.
Dealers nominated by North America’s RV manufacturers are to be notified soon and invited to participate by filling out applications that are being handled again this year by Top 50 coordinator Barb Riley at [email protected]
The deadline for submitting those applications is Aug. 16 after which an independent “panel of experts” comprised of industry insiders meets for a rigorous two-day session right after Labor Day at the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Ind., to finalize the selections.
Winners will be notified shortly thereafter, including five exemplary Blue Ribbon honorees and two special recognition recipients — the 2019 winners of the Gaylord A. Maxwell Innovation Award and the Arthur J. Decio Humanitarian Award.
Named dealers are welcome to use Top 50 logos in their advertising and general marketing promotions as well as window decals in their stores and customizable press release templates in their regional newspapers. They’ll also benefit from coverage in RVBusiness, RVDA’s RV Executive Today and FMCA’s Family RVing magazines.
The awards, in turn, are to be publicly presented again this year at a Wednesday night reception held during the 2019 RV Dealers Convention/Expo hosted by the U.S. Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association and RVDA of Canada on Nov. 11-15 at Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.
Other RVDA Con/Expo attendees are also invited to the reception hosted in cooperation with RVDA by this year’s Top 50 sponsors including Airxcel, Brown & Brown, Cummins Power Generation, Dometic Corp., Freightliner Custom Chassis, Northpoint Commercial Finance, NTP-STAG, Lippert Components Inc., Protective Asset Protection and Wells Fargo CDF.
