The Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) of British Columbia held its general meeting and 21st Annual Fundraiser at the Whistler Hilton/Whistler Golf Club in September.
As reported in The RV Compass Fall issue, a publication produced by RVDA of Canada, the meeting included honoring Rodney Friesen, Voyager RV, Winfield, with the RVDA of BC 2014 Dealer of the Year Award. The organization also reported that donations gathered through live and silent auctions were presented to Canuck Place, a local hospice for sick children.
Other news from the general meeting included:
• In an effort to recruit more people to the RV industry, the RVDA of BC participated in the Provincial Skills Canada (BC) competition as an exhibitor in April, and at the trades expo at the Tradex in Abbotsford Oct. 17-18. The organization will also be attending three career fairs throughout the province during the winter months in cooperation with Okanagan College Trades and Apprenticeship.
• The second annual Vancouver Island RV Show ran April 11-13 and was highly successful. Plans are underway for the 2015 show which will run April 10-12.
• The Annual RV Technician Service Seminars are scheduled for the week of Jan. 26, 2015, at Okanagan College, Kelowna, with training being presented by Lippert Components Inc., Norcold, Demco and Samlex Solar. An additional training session will be offered in the lower Mainland should we receive enough interest from participants.
