Since the July launch of “RV Rescue,” an extreme makeover scheduled for next April at The Rally in Daytona Beach, Fla., a steady flow of RVers have been entering the competition to have their rigs renovated.
According to a press release, online entries are streaming in at a rate of 40 to 50 per day and the coalition of companies sponsoring the event is seeking additional sponsors.
Applicants are also submitting their entries at Camping World stores as the Bowling Green, Ky.-based company is the designated retail sponsor for the event.
Industry supplier Dometic Corp., Elkhart, Ind., is the lead sponsor for “RV Rescue” and other product sponsors include Roadmaster tow bars, Hydro-Life water filters, Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizers and the Celano Grill by LaSalle Bristol.
According to event organizers, “RV Rescue” offers a unique marketing opportunity to reach RVers with messages about do-it-yourself projects and industry trends. The makeover will offer the winning applicant a complete remodel, including a new interior decor and the latest in RV accessories and products.
“Extreme makeovers are very popular in a number of markets,” said Steve Taig, president of Elkhart-based marketing and advertising firm TaigMarks Inc., project coordinator for the event. “We wanted to bring the same momentum to the RV industry where RVers have always shown a strong interest in do-it-yourself projects.”
Taig noted that “RV Rescue” has dedicated significant resources to promoting the first makeover in Daytona and the event will be filmed by Rvtoday to be broadcast on the Outdoor Life Network in June 2006.
