rvia-logo6 Wholesale shipments of RVs to dealers rose in March compared to February, but remain well off the 2008    pace, the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) reported today.

 Shipments totaled 12,800 units for the month, down 57.5% from March 2008, RVIA reported. The month’s tally brought all shipments for the first quarter of 2009 to 30,400, down 63.2% from 82,600 units a year ago.

January shipments totaled 7,300 units and February’s 10,300.

Towable shipments in March totaled 11,800, down 54.4% from 25,900 in March 2008, while motorized shipments totaled 1,000 units, down 76.2% from March 2008.

Shipments in March compared to March 2008 and the percentage of decline were as follows:

  • All travel trailers totaled 7,700 units, 51.6%.
  • Fifth-wheels totaled 2,800 units, 62.2%.
  • Folding camping trailers totaled 1,100 units, 45%.
  • Truck campers totaled 200 units, 66.7%.
  • Class A motorhomes totaled 400 units, 82.6%.
  • Class B motorhomes totaled 100 units, 50%.
  • Class C motorhomes totaled 500 units, 70.6%.
