The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) team of inspectors met with staff from the association’s standards department the week of April 27 in Elkhart, Ind. According to a press release, the meetings are held regularly to help maintain and improve the consistency in the standards inspection process. Those meeting in Elkhart were (L-R in photo) John Proteau, standards administrator/chief inspector; Greg Wischmeyer, inspector/certified technician; Mick Sass, inspector/media coordinator; Kyle VanTassel, standards inspector; Curt Richardson, senior inspector; Bruce Hopkins, vice president of standards; and Kent Perkins, senior director of RV standards (not pictured). The primary focus of this session was to review the new 2015 NFPA 1192 code requirements as well as other technical and administrative issues that have arisen since the group last met in November at the National RV Trade Show. In addition, Perkins and Wischmeyer were also presented with Meritorious Service Awards from Hopkins for their long-time work at RVIA. Perkins has been working in the standards arena at RVIA for 30 years and Wischmeyer has been visiting RV manufacturers as an inspector for 15 years.
