The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) has scheduled its second annual meeting for 2003 to take place Sept. 14-17 at Lake Geneva, Wis.
The gathering will take place at the Grand Geneva Resort, according to Alan Piercy, spokesman for the Reston, Va.-based RVIA.
The association, which represents RV manufacturers and their suppliers, held its first annual meeting in Hawaii during March. It will conduct a second annual meeting this year as it transitions to a schedule where its annual meetings occur closer to the end of its fiscal year, which is on Sept. 30.
The RVIA’s upcoming annual meeting will slightly overlap the retail portion of the Pennsylvania RV & Camping Association’s (PRVCA) show in Harrisburg, Pa., which will end this year on Sept. 14.
The industry-only portion of this year’s PRVCA show will be on Sept. 8-9. The consumer portion will take place Sept. 10-14 at the State Farm Show Complex.
The RVIA also did not want its annual meeting to overlap the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) Convention/Expo, which will take place this year Sept. 30-Oct. 3 at the Rio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
Southwestern Wisconsin was selected as the site for the upcoming RVIA annual meeting because it is a reasonable driving distance from Elkhart Ind., where a number of RV manufacturers and suppliers are clustered. The resort town of Lake Geneva is about 70 northwest of Chicago and Elkhart and Goshen, Ind., are about 100 miles east of Chicago.
The meeting facility in Lake Geneva also is comparable to the facilities available in Nashville, Tenn., the other site that was considered, Piercy said.
