Dan Saltzgiver, chairman of the Board of the Pennsylvania Recreation Vehicle and Camping Association, has been named chairman of the PRVCA’s show, which takes place every September in Harrisburg.
The annual show was recently honored by Trade Show 200 as being the Fastest Growing Hybrid Show – trade and public – in the U.S. and Canada.
As show chairman, Saltzgiver will oversee the work of one of the association’s most important committees, which is responsible for much of the growth of the Harrisburg show over the past few years.
PRVCA Executive Vice President Rebecca Lenington said: “I can’t think of a more qualified person to fill this important role.”
Saltzgiver, chaired the PRVCA board in 1996 and 1997, and was reelected chairman in 2002.  He also served on the Trip Committee and as Education/Membership Committee Chairman. This position comes as he is serving out the second half of his term as chairman of PRVCA.
Saltzgiver was awarded the John Serro Award in 1997. The award, which is not given annually, is only presented in special recognition of outstanding service to the RV industry. Saltzgiver is one of just 10 recipients.
He started his career in the RV industry in 1983 when he was hired by Reichart’s Camping Center, Hanover, Pa. He worked his way up to sales manager in 1989 and in 1990 became co-owner.
Saltzgiver also is the dealer representative to the Board of Directors of the Recreational Park Trailer Industry Association.
The position of PRVCA show chairman was previously held by Larry Mellot, a longtime friend and member of the PRVCA, who died in 2003.
Located at the State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, the Annual RV & Camping Show attracts more than 35,500 attendees. With 24 acres under roof, the show displays more than 1,200 RVs.
The scheduled public days for this year’s Harrisburg show are Sept. 9-12.
