Diesel pusher chassis, fire truck and emergency vehicle manufacturer Spartan Motors Inc. announced that Richard Schalter, currently its CFO, will become president of its Spartan Motor Chassis subsidiary effective Monday (March 4).
Schalter will retain his CFO responsibilities while the Charlotte, Mich.-based company conducts a nationwide search for his successor.
Schalter also will continue as executive vice president of the parent company.
As chassis subsidiary president, Schalter, 48, will replace John Sztykiel, 44, who is president of the chassis subsidiary along with being president and COO of the parent company.
John Sztykiel will become CEO of the parent company in June when his father, George Sztykiel, the current CEO, retires.
Separately, Spartan announced that employees of its Luverne Fire Apparatus subsidiary in Brandon, S.D., donated their time to build a pumper truck that was donated to the New York City Fire Department on Monday (Feb. 25).
Seventy-five of Luverne’s suppliers also donated major components and a total of 500 Spartan and Luverne employees worked nights and weekends to complete the custom pumper truck, according to George Sztykiel.
