Silsbee, Texas, a Gulf Coast town near Beaumont, will get a KOA franchise RV park as part of the 30-acre Thompson Lake Recreational Park development project, according to The Beaumont Enterprise newspaper.

The Silsbee Economic Development Corp. (EDC) has agreed to spend $70,000 to build a road leading to the park, which will include a fishing lake, a pavilion, a catfish hatchery and a small music amphitheater, in addition to the KOA facility, the Enterprise reported.

The installation of water and sewer service to the park will be included in the EDC’s investment, according to the newspaper.

The town, located north of Beaumont, has been investing in infrastructure the last five years in an effort to “jump-start” residential and business growth, according to Silsbee Mayor Dean Robinson.
