Interior of 359RL Trident fifth-wheel by Skyline

Skyline RV, a member of the EverGreen Recreational Vehicles LLC family of companies, announced the launch of the Trident fifth-wheel as part of the company’s Layton brand.

According to a press release, the Layton Trident series is an affordable fifth-wheel extension of the well-known Layton line. Two floorplans are available, the 359RL rear lounge and 399BH bunkhouse.

“We’re incredibly excited to introduce the Layton Trident series fifth-wheels for 2016,” commented Skyline General Sales Manager Mike Scheetz. “The Trident series is situated at the  opening price range for entry-level fifth-wheels yet packed with so much value it competes with many coaches far above this price range. The distinctive décor and many unique features, such as the split storage queen bed and the aerodynamic front cap with picture window, can’t be found elsewhere. The Trident is designed to compete head-to-head with higher end units.”

The eye-catching black and white exterior graphics accentuate the curved cap with large integrated Skyview window. A swing-out outdoor kitchen with sink and refrigerator pair well with the stainless steel foldout grill, which are all optional equipment. Access to the outdoor kitchen and massive basement storage area are accessible through doors with slam latches on either side of the coach.

The interior offers rustic charm with gray- and buff-colored barn wood, wood grain linoleum flooring, residential style wooden blinds, and a planked wood paneled ceiling. The 359RL has a rear living room configuration with opposing slide rooms to open up the living room and kitchen. There’s generous workspace between the island layout and the recessed range in the kitchen. High-end kitchen finishes include solid-surface countertops, stainless steel pull-down faucet, high-grade residential backsplash and a farmer sink. A generous pantry features deep slideout drawers strategically designed for lengthy trips.

An abundance of natural light from the large windows in the rear and curbside slide, as well as the skylight above the kitchen island, brighten the interior of the 359RL. The TV is situated above the fireplace and flips out revealing a large storage space for game consoles and other supplies. The 359RL also offers theatre seating while an 80-inch trifold sofa becomes a queen-sized bed at night. The freestanding dinette has four chairs, two of which easily store under the queen-sized bed.

“We wanted to give people an affordable option to owning a fifth-wheel without skimping on style and standard equipment,” said Scheetz. “To achieve the feel of a rustic retreat we added barn doors to the bathroom and bedroom but kept it functional with large linen closets in both.”

The bathroom also features a full residential shower and three large storage areas. A second bathroom entry from the master bedroom is a convenient addition and the pocket door adds privacy. The 359RL bedroom has plenty of light from the large window at the front of the coach. Storage is easy to find with the large dresser, two full-length closets, nightstands and storage cubby at the end of the bed.
