Skyline Corp. turned a slight profit during the fourth quarter, ending May 31.
The Elkhart, Ind.-based builder of manufactured housing and RVs reported earnings of $191,000 for the quarter, compared with $2.25 million a year earlier. Sales for the fourth quarter fell to $70.8 million from $88.5 million last year.
For the year, Skyline reported a net loss of $5.56 million compared with net income of $2.25 million a year earlier. The net loss included a gain on the sale of idle plant, property and equipment. Sales for fiscal 2008 dropped to $301.7 million from $365.47 million the previous year.
For Skyline’s RV group, sales for fiscal 2008 were $86.97 million compared to $93.1 million for fiscal 2007. The RV group’s sales for the fourth quarter were $25.4 million, up slightly from $24.5 million for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007.
