With a lengthy line of people waiting for the doors to open, the 51st Annual Detroit Camper & RV Show got off to a rousing start Wednesday (Feb. 8) at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Mich. (To view a slideshow scroll to the right side of the RVBUSINESS.com home page).
By the end of the first day, more than 2,100 people passed through the gates — a 41% increase over last year’s opening day total.
“The first day was fantastic. If this is any indication, we’re in for a good, if not great, show,” said Bill Sheffer, executive director of the Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles & Campgrounds (MARVAC), which is the host of the event.
The Detroit show, which runs through Sunday, features 280 new RVs, RV-related seminars, and representatives from more than two dozen campgrounds around the state.
