Motorhome manufacturer SMC Corp. reported it lost $260,000 and its sales declined 7% to $53.1 million during the first quarter.

Revenues were down during the three months ended March 31 because of weaker retail sales of Safari-brand units, according to the company.

Sales of Beaver-brand units “remained constant” although the mix was heavily tilted towards higher-end Patriot, Marquis and Solitaire models.

Meanwhile, SMC subsidiary Harney Coach Works reported lower revenues primarily because of lower Renegade sales, which were partially offset by higher Class C and Riata sales revenue, the company reported.
