Peterson #1When The Source Co. hosts a crowd of RV industry clients tonight (July 23) at the South Bend Cubs-Great Lakes Loons minor league baseball game at Four Winds Field, the center of attention — at least for a moment — will be a familiar face to many in the recreational vehicle business: Mike Peterson, sales/product manager for Forest River Inc.’s Diesel Division (shown in photo). Peterson, who hasn’t thrown a baseball in about 30 years, will be delivering the game’s ceremonial first pitch at 7 p.m. Needless to say, Peterson hasn’t had much time to practice since learning Tuesday evening that he’d been selected for the job. “The sales reps came up with who they thought would be a good candidate and who wouldn’t be afraid of embarrassing themselves in front of a sizeable crowd,” said Steve Caurro, vice president of The Source Co., a Mishawaka, Ind., flooring supplier that’s become a significant RV industry vendor since its inception 32 years ago. “For at least 25 years, we’ve had an annual golf outing, which a lot of the RV clients attend and enjoy. And we started thinking that we really need to do something else for people who don’t golf. So, we did the baseball game last year and it was well received. And this year we’ve got even more people coming – about 115 guests with spouses and families.”
