Space is still available for the 2009 School of RV Parks and Campground Management set for Feb. 17-22 at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, W. Va.
The school is a 50-hour, intensive two-year program conducted for one week each year. The school offers park owners, operators and managers a structured program covering a wide array of management and operations topics, including finance and administration, marketing, customer service, recreation management, maintenance, personnel management and retail and food service operations.
It is co-sponsored by the ARVC Foundation, an affiliate of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC), and The National Training Center for Public Facility Managers.
“Anyone who is involved in the campground industry and is interested in expanding their knowledge, fine-tuning their operation, or taking their business to the next level should seriously consider attending the National School of RV Park and Campground Management,” said Tom Gerken, vice president for industry relations at International Services Inc. and chairman-elect for the school’s board of regents.
The school is a fast track to earning the professional designation of Certified Park Operator (CPO). Students who attend both years obtain 50 of the 75 credits necessary to earn CPO accreditation. The graduate level program builds on the knowledge gained in the first two years, and attendees earn 15 credits toward their CPO certification or recertification.
“This is the only formalized educational program in the industry, offering a broad, industry specific curriculum in an atmosphere which is truly conducive to learning,” Gerken said. “During my years of involvement with the school I have heard excellent comments about the experience from veterans with years of industry experience to those who are newly involved; all have come away from the school with newfound knowledge and invaluable resources to help them succeed well into the future.”
